Hi sleepy Connor,
Right now you are snoozing the evening away. In fact that is basically what you have been doing all day long. Mommy and daddy hope that means you are healing and growing. After a long day of watching you fight with your new tubes and then having to lay still for your MRI yesterday we had hoped today would begin with the removal of that yucky breathing tube, after all that was the plan. You think by now we would quite thinking a plan was actually going to be carried out as it was intended but somehow we keep forgetting that you often have a different plan then the doctors. Early this morning they did an x-ray of your lungs per protocol and the results weren't exactly what we would expect. Your little right lung looked pretty rough and wasn't in any shape to be breathing on it's own.
Since your right lung was having a rough time there was no way that breathing tube could come out today. Mommy and daddy were pretty disappointed but we knew the doctors were looking out for you. We were worried you would spend the whole day trying to pull the tube out on your own like yesterday. It breaks our hearts when you look up at us like you are saying "fix it mom and dad." However this wasn't the case. You spent most of the day sound asleep and quiet. The nurses didn't have to give you near as much sleepy juice today yet you rested much more comfortably then yesterday. Maybe this was just your day of telling us that you needed another day of rest.
The respiratory therapists and nurses worked hard to help that right lung get back in shape and halfway through the day things were looking better. You didn't seem to mind them messing with you at all. Every once in a while you would open your eyes and look for mommy or daddy. As soon as you saw us and felt us touch your head you went right back to sleep. So although today was a bit of a bummer it was a great day of rest for you. Mommy loved watching you sleep so peacefully. Let's hope that little lung of yours is all better by the morning and we can move forward with the plan to get rid of that breathing tube. I'm sure if you have another plan you'll let us know and that's ok too. Mommy and daddy will be ready and waiting when you are.
Sweet dreams my sweet little boy. Mommy and daddy love you.
-Mommy
