Regrouping

Hello there little guy,

Today has been a sleepy day for you due to an extra dose of sleepy juice to help you calm down from a fit first thing this morning.  Since you slept most of the day it gave mommy a lot of quiet time to think (sometimes that's a dangerous thing).  But mommy wasn't the only one thinking today.  The doctors have been putting their heads together to decide what the next move for you will be.  Unfortunately you had to go back on the high flow oxygen last night which means no milkshakes for a while.  I'm very sorry about that buddy.  The doctors have warned mommy and daddy many times to expect two steps forward one step back but sometimes it seems like the other way around but I'm sure I don't have to tell you that.

Last night Dr. Morales came by and talked to mommy and daddy for a while.  It's almost as if he could sense mommy's frustration and knew just when to appear to ease my mind.  He said your little heart is doing great but we have some other issues to sort out that are causing some problems.  He described it as a game of chess.  There are several things that need to be done but it's a matter of timing the moves right.  He's a pretty smart guy and appears to be ultimately calling the shots for your path.  First on that path is to do nothing.  You heard me right.  Despite what some of the other doctors think about necessary procedures and tests he wants to try and give your little body some time to rebound from this most recent setback and not add anything else to your plate.

Mommy and Daddy like the idea of holding off on some of the tests and procedures but to be honest we don't feel like this has exactly been a break for you.  You have been fighting everyday to find a balance with all the new changes you've experience this past week.  Between changing the way you've had to breath and dealing with all the medicines they've thrown at you the past two days you are an amazing little trooper.   We are so proud of you and wish everyday that we could make this easier on you.  I may have told you this before but you are much stronger than mommy has ever been.

While the doctors are regrouping and putting their heads together to make the best plan for you, mommy and daddy did a little of regrouping of our own.  Mommy and daddy have felt a little lost this past week or so.  We watch how hard you are fighting and see the wonderful gains you have made but our hearts are crushed when we see the setbacks you face.  We had a little talk with God and asked him to give us patience and strength (so we can keep up with you).  Both mommy and daddy know that God is leading the doctors as well as protecting you but sometimes parents can't help but worry about their baby.  So we will follow your example and hold on tight like we have been doing the past two months.  HAPPY TWO MONTH BIRTHDAY CONNOR!!!! Mommy and daddy love you more everyday and we thank you so much for the little awake time you mustered up tonight to spend with  us. You are more than precious.

Sweet dreams baby boy.  Mommy and daddy love you.

-Mommy
