Hi Connor,
Happy One Month Birthday!!! What a huge accomplishment today is for you. Everyday daddy and I end our day by thanking God for another day with our little boy. When we started we didn't know if we would make it far enough to thank him for a week not to mention a month. Your strength and fight continues to amaze the doctors (including the one you just tried to hit despite the fact you are suppose to be under the power of sleepy juice). Daddy and I aren't surprised in the least by how well you're doing. We knew you were a superhero from the moment we met you. Apparently word has spread about your superhero abilities because you received a gift in the mail that is very fitting.
It's the softest blanket Mommy has ever felt and has the superman logo on it. It's cleverly designed so that when you're big enough it can turn into a cape. It came with a card that said, "Every superhero needs a cape." Mommy thinks that is extremely appropriate for you and I can't wait until the day I see you running (or flying should I say) around with it fastened around your neck like superman. Extra special thanks to Kristen, Travis and Charlotte for your superhero gift.
Not only is today your one month birthday but it's also one week after your surgery. What a milestone day. Although it won't mean much to you right now the following statistics mean a lot to mommy and daddy. In the past week you have have gone from 13 IV pumps to 9, gotten the line taken out of your heart, had your chest closed, gotten one of your chest tubes out, stopped needing your dialysis, started eating milkshakes again, and gotten rid of a TON of swelling. We still have a long way to go buddy but you're certainly headed in the right direction.
To say good work just doesn't seem to be enough. Mommy and daddy also want to say thank you. Thank you for fighting so hard to get better. Thank you for being so strong when even mommy and daddy are feeling weak. Thank you for being patient with all the poking and testing from the doctors and nurses. Thank you for staying calm and being persistent during a few rocky spots. Thank you for bringing hope to thousands of people. Thanks for bringing our family closer than ever. Thank you for making mommy and daddy's hearts so happy and completing our lives.
We couldn't be more proud to call you our son. We love you Connor.
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
